Delivering Upgraded Chemical Dosing at Harestock Water Treatment Works
About The Project
We worked with GTb (the joint venture between Galliford Try and Binnies) on a project to improve chemical dosing performance at Harestock Water Treatment Works.
The site required an upgrade to handle higher chemical dosing rates, driven by changes in process demand. The existing setup was no longer sufficient — the older, smaller Ferric Dosing Pumps were running at full capacity and couldn’t keep up with the site’s evolving requirements.
What We Delivered
Our electrical team was responsible for the full installation of a new dosing system, including:
- Electrical install of a new ferric dosing pump kiosk
- Cabling and control for a new point of application (POA) and mixing chamber
- Installation of a new flow meter to ensure accurate monitoring and dosing
- Replacement of older cabling and infrastructure to accommodate larger, more powerful pumps
The upgrade gives the site a much more robust and scalable dosing capability, supporting better process control and operational reliability.
How We Helped
Despite some early delivery delays to site — which meant we couldn’t start work as initially planned — we kept things moving through a flexible and pragmatic approach.
Our team adapted quickly, working around the issues and coordinating closely with GTb and other trades to get the job done. Once we were able to access the equipment, installation progressed smoothly, with minimal disruption and strong collaboration on site.
Outcome
The upgraded system at Harestock is now in place and operating as expected, with:
- Greater chemical dosing capacity
- Improved flow monitoring
- A future-proofed electrical setup designed for resilience and growth
It’s another great example of how we work with partners like GTb to solve problems, respond quickly, and deliver quality electrical engineering for the water sector.
